Resort Fisheries and Marine Manager

Salary: £28,000 – £37,000k dependant on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week as per business requirements

Duration: Permanent

We are searching for an experienced Fisheries Manager who is looking for a change of environment, or an experienced Assistant Manager who is looking to progress their career.

This job will play an important role in protecting marine wildlife and habitats and is focused on two areas:

Marine wildlife welfare

Fisheries future preparation and planning

Our client a stunning 80-acre site with 30 acres of lakes set in the beautiful Devon countryside. This is a holiday destination where they have fully renovated accommodation and have plans to expand substantially over the next few years.

Whilst the main focus will be on guest experience, looking after our clients fishing lakes along with the wellbeing of all of the fish and marine wildlife on the resort will of course, be of vital importance to the resort.

Importantly we are looking for a 'culture fit' for our client and a candidate that wants to support their colleagues and deliver special experiences for all of the resort's visiting guests.

What is involved:

* working with planning authorities to ensure new building developments do not have an adverse impact on river fisheries.

* conducting environmental impact assessments.

* approving and issuing licenses for the movement of fish.

* electro-fishing and netting.

* monitoring scientific data.

* writing reports.

* surveying fish stocks,

You will have:

* A post-graduate degree or relevant experience working with fishery science, fishery resource assessment and management, marine biology and ecosystem conservation.

* A good understanding of the role of ecolabelling

* A good understanding of sustainable development and related fishery, commercial and communications issues.
