We are thrilled to be supporting a well-established importing organisation based near Ashford whilst they look to add an Import & Freight Forwarding Clerk to the business. This is a new role for the company and the key element of the position is to complete and manage day to day import entries for air/road and sea freight shipments.
Previous experience within Freight Forwarding is a must for this role and if you have some Customs experience this would be advantageous. You will also have outstanding Customer Service skills and have a degree of flexibility as whilst the core hours are Monday-Friday 08.30-17.30 there will be some occasions where you will be on call and weekend work might be required.
Completing day to day DEFRA (PEACH entries for all air, sea and road freight shipments
Telephone and or written communication with external organisations ie HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, Supplier and Hauliers
Liaising with customers, partners and carriers
Obtain the necessary Bill of Ladings and Tarriif headings, obtaining payments from customers in line with the company policy.
Calculation of DUTY/VAT cost for consignments
Providing administrative support to the logistics and commercial teamSkills
Previous experience within freight forwarding
Ideally Customs Experience (desireable)
Confident with IT packages including Word and Excel
Be able to work in a busy and fast moving environment, working to deadlines and targets
Able to work under pressure and have excellent attention to detailThis role is office based the hours are Mon-Friday 08.30-17.30 salary is dependent on experience and some weekend cover work will be required, 20 days holiday + 8 bank holiday
