Job Overview
This is an exciting oppitunity for an experienced import clerk, working for a well established company based in Ashford,
Key Responsibilities:
* Completing day to day DEFRA (PEACH) entries for all air, sea and road freight shipments.
* Telephone and/or written communication with external organisations e.g. HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, Hauliers, Suppliers etc.
* Obtain necessary Bill of Ladings and correct Tariff Headings. Obtain payments from customers in line with company policy.
* Liaising with customers, partners, shipping lines and carriers
* Calculating Duty / VAT cost for each consignment.
* Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
* Planning and arranging deliveries
* Providing administration support to the logistics and commercial team
* Telephone queries, data input and general admin duties.
Essential Skills/Qualities Required:
* Previous experience within an Import Forwarding role, preferably including Customs experience.
* Knowledge of customs declarations ideally within a freight forwarding or logistics business.
* Previous experience within an Import Forwarding role, preferably including Customs experience.
* Confident in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
* Ability to work under pressure
* Excellent attention to detail
* Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to work flexible hours when require.
* Ability to learn and understand existing procedures
* The ability to work independently as well as within a team
* Able to work to deadlines and meet targets
* Driven and self-motivated
This is a full time, permeant role offering a salary of £22k-£28k dependant on experience. Some weekend cover work will be required
