HR GO Recruitment are currently assisting a reputable, family-run company in the Ashford area in their search for a Freight Forwarding import Clerk. Our client prides themselves on the first-class service they provide to their customers and are seeking someone who shares this passion. As a freight forwarder, the main focus of this role will be logistics and ensuring all entries are completed correctly in a timely manner.
Main Responsibilities:
Completing day to day DEFRA entries for all air, sea, and road freight shipments.
Constant communication with external organisations such as HMRC, shipping lines and Haulage firms
Obtaining payments from customers, aligned with company policy
Calculating Duty / VAT costs for each individual shipment
Keep abreast of current changes in regulations and customs procedures
Provide administration support to the logistics department where necessary
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience in a freight forwarding role and customs experience is essential
Confident using Outlook and Excel and able to pick up new systems quickly
Knowledge of customs declarations within a freight forwarding or logistics role is advantageous
Excellent communication both verbal and written, due to dealing with external bodies
Proven customer service skills
Ability to work as part of a cohesive team as well autonomously
The role:
This is a full time, permanent position with a negotiable salary
Some weekend cover work will be required if necessary
Salary negotiable, depending on experience
