HM1148 – Freight Co-Ordinator – Based in Exeter

Salary up to £20,000 depending on experience, plus benefits

Candidates with some knowledge and experience of working within a Freight/Transport or Import is preferred.

Candidate Skills

* Educated to A’ Level standard

* Highly organised with a methodical approach

* Good team player with excellent communication skills

* Able to converse confidently on the telephone and by email

* Highly numerate and literate, good MS Office skills, especially Excel, any experience of using Sage would be an advantage

* Accurate in all aspects of work with a meticulous approach to record keeping

* Able to work on your own initiative, determine source of problems and provide potential solutions.

* Able to work to tight timescales and budgets

* Ability to learn quickly, and transfer skills with a flexible and adaptable approach

Duties

* Plan and instruct carriers to meet transport requirements and prepare relevant booking confirmations

* Expedite shipment status information through to final delivery

* Liaise with third party carriers to ensure most cost effective rates are achieved

* Liaise with transport providers regarding any transportation issues, damage in transit, shipment verification, documentation etc.

* Ensure all insurance claims are processed for DIT/Losses within set timescale

* Assist in other day to day import requirements

* Liaise with all warehouse locations regarding planning and scheduling timed deliveries.

* Liaise with purchasing department ensuring they are regularly updated with regards to any delays on deliveries

* Provide quotations & assistance on domestic and export shipments for Customer Services/ Contracts/Production departments including Same Day and timed deliveries

* Provide guidance on most suitable transport to meet customer’s requirements

* Provide guidance on import/export requirements i.e., Documentation, customs controls, Incoterms, wooden packaging regulations, commodity codes customs updates

* Keep accurate detailed records of import shipments in transit

* Calculate and record finance landed costs

* Monitor and control flow of import documentation to avoid rent and demurrage charges.

* Audit system records and documentation for VAT requirements

* Close import files, ensuring all paperwork is complete and correct and purchasing landed cost records have been updated

* Ensure Import register is updated on a regular basis for external customs audit purposes

* Process documentation for import shipments, providing agents with clear and accurate

* Customs clearance instructions

* Assist in other day to day import requirements
