Shipping & Logistics Manager

We are on the hunt for an experienced Shipping & Logistics Manager, to lead a small team  and take responsibility for the day to day running of our Shipping Department. 

Ideally you will have knowledge about shipping processes, be well organised, analytical and excellent in communication with staff and customers.

This position is responsible for overseeing and supervising the day-to-day operations of the warehouse & receiving functions which includes the management and supervision of staff. 

Candidates will need to experience with Hazardous and Battery Export knowledge.

The role & responsibilities of a shipping manager: 

Overseeing a small team, ensuring that tasks are correctly undertaken and delegated 
Invoicing – ensuring all orders get correctly invoiced and that any issues are identified working with Sales and Finance teams.
Packing – Adhering to our standards and to ensure the correct packing method is used for the right type of product. Ensuring the relevant paperwork and marketing information is sent with each box.
Dispatching – Using our computer systems to ensure the correct courier is chosen and the best method of transport is used to reduce costs.
Collections – ensure all collections requested from Inside and Outside Sales are arranged in a timely manner.
Relationship Building – ensuring we are holding regular meetings with our couriers and packaging companies to ensure we are getting the best prices. Liaise with freight forwarders, couriers, customs, government agencies, internal and external customers, and vendors both verbally and written on a daily basis.
Ensure compliance with Customs protocol’s and information relating to commodity codes are tracked.
Research, preparation and dispatch/export of Hazardous goods e.g. Batteries, canisters
All export documentation certificates of conformance of sealed exports – Advise sales and customers on dispatches to Europe/ROW on HS codes and country of origin
Giving customs clearance on imports
Responsible for the control of strategic goods / software and the goods from orders arising from End User concerns for exports from the UK facility.
Be prepared to answer to HMRC on any import/export issues that arise either by email/phone or face to face
Maintain necessary supplies, cleanliness and orderly flow of shipping areas  
Attributes & qualifications required to be successful in this role 

Detailed knowledge of import and export of products to worldwide destinations
Familiar with customs compliance / documentation to ensure we act compliantly
Relevant shipping and logistics management/supervision experience is essential
Strong Computer proficiency
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work at fast pace
Problem solving abilities

Basic Salary of £35,000 pa
Core hours Monday – Friday 9am – 6pm
25 days annual leave + bank holidays
