To arrange the transportation of goods from the supplier to the end customer, discharging, storage and onward haulage. Having knowledge of shipping terms whilst processing necessary shipping documents. The role reports to the shipping manager / manager of trading support.

Working for a large organisation, you'll have good Excel skills, have experience importing goods, be a team player and looking to work within a family feel office. You'll have impeccable attention to detail, be a keen learner and it's highly desirable to have experience with SAP, however not essential. This position IS office based. free on-site parking.

Requirements

– Good level of English and Maths with good communication skills both written and verbal.

– Must have attention to detail and being diligent is a prerequisite of the role.

– Take initiative and be proactive in all aspects of the role and work well in a team.

– Ability to prioritise workload to achieve deadlines.

– Being flexible and willing to help out in other areas as and when required

– Computer literate, must be comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

– Experience of SAP is preferable, however, training will be given.

Daily duties will include, however not limited to;

Ensure that material is shipped and delivered on time to meet customer needs

Identify and react to problems that arise due to late or partial shipments
Assist shipping manager with the chartering of vessels (opportunity to gain knowledge on chartering)
Participate in negotiations for best freight, discharge and handling costs with relevant parties.
Prepare and send relevant paperwork to customs agent, to facilitate customs clearance on our behalf.
Appoint load and discharge surveyors.
Using Excel to prepare and update relevant documents.
Keeping check on safeguarding measures (quotas) this will involve liaising with relevant customs authorities.
Review and process all relevant supplier invoices
Using SAP, processing and generating relevant documents i.e. delivery instructions and credit authorisations
Maintain shipping files by vessel in accordance with TKM's QA procedures
Liaise with trading support manager and team on a daily basis

Note:

Visits to ports and agents or arrange local meetings when necessary
Telephone answering
