Senior Naval Architect (Structures) – Permanent – Hampshire – Competitive
A developing marine consultancy is recruiting for a Senior Naval Architect to join their team in Hampshire.
Reporting to the Director, this role is primarily responsible for;
Preparing detailed plans and drawings of the proposed vessel or structure, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Assessing what materials and equipment are needed and planning the construction process
Obtaining materials and coordinating the construction, launch and trials of the vessel or structure.
Collaborating with engineers from other disciplines and managing build projects and the resources required to make sure it meets the budget and deadline.
Designing ships and boats, related components, and specialist equipment, using complex mathematical and physical models to ensure the ship's design is technical sound and that is complies with safety regulations.
Conducting a risk analysis of ships and marine structures, using the regulations of classification societies and intergovernmental organisations such as the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), to assess aspects of design such as strength, stability, and lifesaving.The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Naval Architect position, preferably with a design/structural bias.
You will have excellent written and verbal English skills, and ideally have (FEA) finite element analysis experience and CAD design knowledge.
You will also have excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
