Seafreight Import Clerk

Our innovative logistics client who focuses on controlled costs and customer service excellence, are currently looking for an experienced Seafreight Import Clerk to join their team in Ipswich.  This is a full time, permanent position, offering a salary of up to £30k.  As the Seafreight Import Clerk, you'll be dealing with shipments, deliveries and working alongside the customs department on a day to day basis.

We're keen to speak to people who have start to finish Imports experience and excellent communication skills as you will be liaising with clients on daily basis regarding collections, deliveries and common problems on route, as well as negotiating with new or existing clients/suppliers. Having a knowledge of Customs is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.  If you’re seeking a foot in the door to a career rather than just a job, for lifelong opportunities and satisfaction in a vocation you love then this Seafreight Import Clerk role is for you!  Experienced logistics professional are currently in very high demand so it’s a great sector to get into.

Seafreight Import Clerk duties include:

Issuing booking instructions to origin offices and ensuring all Consignments are loaded onto computer system prior to arrival / departure.
Communicating with existing hauliers, confirming orders and booking confirmations to clients
Handle customer inquiries
Ensure correct charges are highlighted / passed for billing
Experience required:

Good Administrative and MS Excel skills
Working knowledge of Sequoia, would be a distinct advantage.
Ability to build relationships with customers
Able to prioritise, perform under pressure and work using own initiative
