Our client, an independent family run freight forwarding company specializing in multi-modal operations and e-fulfillment, are looking for a Sea Freight Import Clerk to join their team in Kent, to take bookings and prepare documentation, i.e. Bills of Lading. In return, you will receive a salary of up to £32k.
The successful Sea Freight Import Clerk will have excellent communication skills, as you will be liaising with shipping lines to negotiate rates and book container collections. Also, having excellent computer/administrative skills is a good attribute for this role as you will be creating files both manually and on the computer system.
The main duties of a Sea Freight Import Clerk are:
Receiving pre-alerts from overseas agents
Advising customers of arrival of cargo into the UK
Planning loads and sending load lists to agents
Checking manifests once received
Receiving and checking relevant import documentation and passing on to shipping lines
Create pricing updates in the company’s system where bookings are secured
Dealing with quotations
Experience required for a Sea Freight Import Clerk:
Start to finish Seafreight Imports experience
Able to use MS systems confidently
Good presentation skills
