Pathfinder Personnel are recruiting on behalf of our sister company SMS for moorers to assist in the mooring and unmooring of vessels within Portsmouth Port.
Key Tasks include:
– Mooring and unmooring vessels within Portsmouth Port.
– Linkspan duties
– Associated cleaning duties (please be aware that whilst the main role is mooring/unmooring there will be down time in between vessel movements. Successful candidates will be expected to assist with associated cleaning duties as part of the role).
The role will suit candidates who have previous seamanship skills or previous maritime experience. Experience in mooring and line handling would be advantageous. Successful candidates will undergo full training specific to the Port and will undergo on the job training until deemed capable by Berthing Masters.
Please be aware that this role is physically demanding and involves lifting and hauling of heavy mooring lines. The role is also based out in the elements and you may be exposed to all weather conditions.
Successful candidates will be able to work well as part of a team and must be able to swim.
Please be aware that this role is of a temporary ad hoc nature and we will only be able to offer shifts when the shipping schedule allows. Please be aware that this can cover seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts can be antisocial hours and at late notice (so living in a close proximity to Portsmouth Port would be a distinct advantage)
Please be aware that the minimum shift is three hours. Hourly rate of pay is £13.10 flat rate (inclusive.of paid annual leave accrual) Whilst undergoing training the training rate of pay is £10.65 per hour (Inclusive of paid annual leave accrual).
Please be aware that the role is ad hoc and we cannot guarantee you a fixed number of hours. We react to the specific requirments of the shipping lines.
