We are looking for a Mechanical Piping Design Engineer from either the Gas or any other hazardous areas industry for a permanent position in the North East paying up to circa £50-55k salary per annum and circa £70k total package. Located up to 1.5 hours from either Leeds or Sunderland office, working from home with 1-2 days in an office per week.
Working as the successful Mechanical Piping Design Engineer you will ideally be Incorporated with the ability to achieve Chartered status within 24 months. You will be able to produce and deliver Option Studies, Concept Studies, FEED Studies and Detailed Designs and specifications and be able to produce calculations. It would be an advantage of you have an awareness or understanding of pipelines, civils and structural related work.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
*Check and Approve engineering design work and design changes, undertaken by other design team members or assigned consultants, ensuring compliance with all relevant UK Legislation, Industry Standards and Codes of Practice etc.
*Produce specifications for survey work and options studies required for Pre-Construction Engineering Data Packs for Capital Project Contracts and to enable value engineering of concept scopes.
*Contribute to HAZID, HAZOP and HAZCON studies and Auditing of the mechanical and Civils design function throughout the project lifecycle.
*Manage small design projects within time and budget constraints and report on progress as required by Capital Projects.
*Assist on all CAPEX projects with Value Engineering studies, Design TQ's, Lessons Learned Reviews.
*Provide Mechanical and Piping technical design support to all Project Managers within the CAPEX Programme.
*Visit Sites and undertake surveys.
Knowledge and experience:
*Experienced user of AutoCAD with 3D capabilities and all MS Office products.
*Experience of leading a small design project and checking and approving detailed design produced by others.
*An appreciation of Piping Stress Analysis.
*Comprehensive understanding of design work within Hazardous Areas, Zones.
*Either Degree qualified in a related engineering discipline, or minumum HND or equivalent experience.
