Mechanical Engineer - Marine Research Instrumentation

Are you a Degree (or HND) qualified Mechanical Engineer in the Salford / Eccles area looking for a new full-time opportunity?
Would you be interested in working with a state-of-the-art business who design and build specialist equipment, software and instrumentation within the Marine Research industry?
Do you have experience in any of the following: rotating machinery and bearing design; design for manufacture; geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; material and component selection for aggressive environments; developing inspection, testing, validation and acceptance plans?

If so, our client are looking to add to their engineering team within their design facility based in Eccles, Manchester.  You will be involved in the design, fabrication and installation of this equipment, working with other members of the design team to develop the solutions required by our clients. This equipment is precision machinery, designed to order and you will need to be able to demonstrate relevant design (mechanical) experience. 

What you need….
*To be based in, or within commutable distance of Eccles
*To be qualified in Mechanical Engineering to a minimum of HND level 
*To be able to demonstrate knowledge of:
–rotating machinery and bearing design;
–design for manufacture;
–geometric dimensioning and tolerancing;
–material and component selection for aggressive environments;
–developing inspection, testing, validation and acceptance plans.

It'd be great, but not absolutely necessary if you also had….
*A membership of a professional body: IMechE for example
*5+ years project management experience
*Knowledge of EtherCAT based control systems or Ethernet networks

The role…..
Our client's high-quality instruments are used by the marine research facilities worldwide to measure forces and moments on vessels and marine structures; including some well renowned names within the industry.
Innovation and customer focus are the keys to our client's success. This role will play a key part in the development of our client's product range, building on the recognised brand and designs associated with towing carriages to offer cutting edge technology, whilst also providing our client's customers with first class service. The successful candidate will be self-motivated as they will lead in the design, fabrication and installation of this equipment, working with other members of our design team to develop the solutions required by their clients. This equipment is precision machinery, designed to order, therefore you will need to have experience in a similar field / with similar technology.

You will support the installation and maintenance of this equipment globally when required, so international travel will be required. However, during your initial tenure you will be based full time within our clients Eccles facility.
