Marine Procurement Manager
Cowes (hybrid working will be considered)

We are currently recruiting for a Marine Procurement Manager to join our team. As Marine Procurement Manager you will report directly into our MD and manage the sourcing of goods and services across all our sites in the UK and abroad. This is a great opportunity for a Procurement professional who wants to play a leading role in shaping the Procurement division within an exciting company.
Identify potential suppliers, visit existing suppliers, and build and maintain good supplier relationships.
Maintain the company’s approved supplier records and process payments and invoices.
Work with the QHSE department to conduct supplier audits as required.
Negotiate and agree contracts, and monitor the quality of service provided.
Drive value from the supply chain (e.g. better quality products/delivery, lower costs, rationalisation of what we buy, how we buy it).
Raise purchase orders on the supply chain with appropriate T&Cs, ensuring that client T&Cs are flowed down to the supply chain as required.
Perform full tender exercises on the supply chain against defined specifications where appropriate.
Evaluate bids against defined criteria and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.
Feedback to the supply chain on tender outcomes.
Maintain contract files including NDA and teaming agreements.
Develop and implement the company’s procurement strategy and procedures.
Establish strategic sourcing contracts with key suppliers (consignment stock, volume rebates, performance pay etc)
Work with our Engineering to reduce cost through improved design and by sourcing alternatives
Work with Sales to provide costing information for bids and tenders.
Manage the buyers and coordinate the day to day activity of the procurement department
Work with the Delivery function to review all contract reviews and advise appropriate lead times
Produce reports, KPIs and statistics on procurement.
Identify where local suppliers can be nurtured to enhance the local community in which Strainstall operates and reduce our carbon footprint
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS).
Tertiary qualification, such as HNC, degree or equivalent experience.
UK driving licence.
Experience and Skills
We are looking for procurement professionals who ideally have previous experience within engineering or manufacturing. You must be able to demonstrate leadership skills, supply chain management and have excellent organisational and negotiating skills. You will also be commercially focussed, financially literate and hold good IT skills. Whilst not essential, a background in mechanical and or electronics is highly desirable.
