Grid Engineer - Offshore Wind

Ventus is working with a leading developer of renewable power, to recruit a Grid Engineer for its offshore wind function.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

*

Lead on grid connection planning development and related regulatory body interaction activities for various new markets in cooperation with Grid, Engineering, and Development team members.

*

Actively research regional grid network connection and regulatory framework requirements in new markets and deploy these in preliminary grid designs and technical discussions.

*

Actively participate in the constructability assessments of acquisition opportunities in new markets and propose early-stage grid connection strategies.

*

Engage with internal technical functions and provide support to the project management teams to manage the distribution and transmission grid network.

*

Provide electrical engineering support to offshore wind site selection and participate in technical meetings.

*

Conceptual design for offshore electrical systems for wind farm and transmission assets.

*

Procurement of front-end electrical engineering (e.g. offshore substation, overall electrical systems, and all supporting designs).

*

Review technical grid designs and actively participate in the comments exchange during the project EPC/BOP/TSA contract tendering process run by the Procurement team.

*

Translating engineering issues in CAPEX and OPEX assumptions.

*

Technical engagement with external consultants, contractors, independent engineers, lenders engineers, utility and grid companies as required.

*

Producing technical reports for senior management.

Education and Experience

*

A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role

*

Previous experience as a Quaility Manager, ideally in Offshore Wind or Energy sector

*

Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and the application of ISO9001

*

Ideally be qualified to a Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. engineering.

*

Trained and experienced in Auditing

*

Excellent organisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure;

*

IT literate with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ie Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint etc.

*

Strong verbal / written communication skills.

*

Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and telephone manner with the ability communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders both internally & externally.

*

Ability to multi task and prioritise
