Position: European Freight Operations Manager – Intermodal
Location: Thurrock, Essex, United Kingdom
Salary: £55,000 + Package + Bonus

Job Purpose
To lead and manage the European Operation Team ensuring that targets in relation to activities, service, quality and productivity are met at all times, including financial control and client management.

What will you do?
Manage a team of operators to achieve company targets and KPIs
Provide exceptional customer service to a diverse and demanding portfolio of clients ensuring all forms of communication are fully utilised as necessary
Plan and organise transportation activities for all European cargo managing information accrued from point of order to delivery, orchestrating transportation movements, and arranging services as necessary aligning with Group and UK network
Key Operational contact for Customer and Vendor Operational performance, including periodic review meetings as required
Review of Vendor freight rates and other transportation costs to keep working costs low ensuring these are aligned with the Customer
Financial and P&L accountability to include GM maximisation and analysis and full cost control in period account closure

Essential Requirements:
Good knowledge & understanding of the BWS import process, European transportation via all modalities (road / rail / sea)
Strong career history within freight forwarding operations at management level
A genuine commitment to service delivery, displaying excellent customer service skills
Excellent planning and organisational skills combined with the ability to work under pressure / prioritisation of work load to ensure business deadlines are met
Enthusiastic and driven to achieve targets and objectives
Ability to motivate & lead the team using a variety of techniques
A willingness to question the tradition to find a better way / drive continuous improvement
Excellent attention to detail
