Freight Forwarder Customer Services

Platform Resourcing are currently working with a haulage company who are looking to take on a European Transport Planner to join their International Freight Forwarding team based in Newport due to a period of expansion.

The successful candidate must have experience in exporting goods via European road freight, having experience in forming and providing quotations to customers, ensuring excellent customer service at all times and possessing knowledge of customs clearance documentations required for different countries.

* Full-time permanent position

* Salary £22,000 – £25,000 experience depending

* Monday – Friday and some cover on weekends when required

Duties and Responsibilities:

* To liaise with necessary 3rd party suppliers and businesses to ensure an on-time delivery service

* To manage and plan routes across Europe

* Operate and control all movements

* To answer client’s queries and inform them on delivery schedules

* Working alongside colleagues within various areas and departments

* To manage all elements of the supply chain to ensure transport services are delivered to the highest standard

* To work with overseas agents to deliver on expectations and service

* To keep relevant and up to date records of journey’s, deliveries, and timings

* To negotiate rates and delivery schedules with suppliers, aiming to receive the best rates and reduce costs

* To cost transport requirements (exports and imports) and provide quotations to customers

* To manage and track deliveries, resolving any issues incurred along the way

* Managing a shipment from the point of order and throughout until delivery

* Resolve issues surrounding lost or missing shipments

* To be able to prioritise shipments depending on the client and their specific requirements

* Ensuring high levels of customer service at all times to maintain and develop relationships with customers, manufacturers, overseas agents and suppliers

* Account managing current clients and focus on internal sales

* Develop existing accounts to their full potential, aiming to successfully win new business

* Creating and dealing with all documentation required for the shipment, ensuring accuracy to prevent any delays in customs

Experience Preferred

* 2 years within the freight/logistics sector

* Experience arranging shipments internationally or exporting to Europe

* Excellent communication skills, to be able to communicate well with customers, suppliers and internal team members

* Excellent customer service skills are essential

* Excellent I.T skills

* Some negotiation skills or experience is desirable
