Freight Customs Clerk

Our client is a leading Freight and Logistics supply chain company based in Salford. Working within the busy Freight Forwarding team, the purpose of the role is to manage key customer's requirements relating to their freight shipments.

Job Title: Customs Clerk

Location: Manchester

Key Tasks:

* Complete all aspects of customs clearance entries from start to finish for imports and exports, dealing with various modes of transport – Sea, Air and Road
* Ensure all customs clearance declarations are submitted in a timely and accurate manner
* Co-ordinate the customs between the customer and internal function
* Monitor the clearance status of shipments.
* You will deal with all queries quickly and efficiently and build good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Support and advice customers on all international import / export requirements especially with new processes brought upon by Brexit.
* Update and maintain reference logs for customers
* Maintain accurate filing and archiving records
* Audit and check entries completed
* To ensure the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies.
* Complete all billing as required with the internal system

Knowledge and Experience:

* Previous experience in a Customs clerk role
* Previous experience of working in a freight forwarding company
* Experience of Cargowise would be an advantage
* An understanding of the importance of attention to detail and quality of product
* A flexible hands-on approach to work and willing to complete a variety of tasks
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
* Proficient in the use of work/excel and email
* Previous administrative experience is essential

* Salary £25,000 to £30,000 Circa
