Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Export Clerk within the air and sea freight forwarding sector to join our logistics hub for shipping and warehousing in Farnborough. The role will be working for a global freight forwarder with an extensive client base with your role focussed on the air and sea freight clients as part of our wider freight forwarding operations teams across the UK. The role would suit candidates with proven air and/or sea freight experience gained working for a feight forwarder who is now looking for an opportunity based locally in Farnborough, working for a company that can offer a varied and interesting role as part of a professional team. The main duties of the role are to provide a day-to-day process/ service in all export freight processes to an internal & external client base. To support customers’ processes to ensure precise and timely arrangements of shipment requests (Export)
Main duties and responsibilities
Freight planning, arranging transportation and export bookings (mainly air and sea with some road and courier)
Build strong internal and external relationships to exceed customer’s expectations.
Liaise/co-ordinate with carriers, agents, warehouses and customers to arrange collections, manage queries and follow up discrepancies in a timely manner.
Processing orders on the internal management/operations system
Documentation creation (MAWB, HAWB, Manifests, emailing Pre-advices. MBL/HBL)
NES entries: UCR's, MUCRs, CPC Codes, Good knowledge of export customs procedures.
Understand LC documents.
Understand requirements for raising consular documents, COO's, EUR1's ATRs, ATA Carnet export presentation process.
Day-to-day administration: couriering documents, filing
Answering enquiries and effectively resolving problems.
Raise invoices and transport documents & pass to clients and exporters.
Provide hands on support to the Farnborough logistics team as required.
To be successful, you should have 3 years experience working for a freight forwarder in export operations and be able to prepare awbs and carry out customs entries.
Any experience relating to the carriage of dangerous goods by air would be an advantage.
Able to work in a very fast paced environment to tight deadlines.
Financial and numeracy skills including high levels of accuracy and attention to detail ATD.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and be a Team player but also able to work to own initiative proactively at times.
Enthusiastic with Strong interpersonal skills, Strong organisation/time management skills and a Customer/client focused approach.
