Drilling & Grouting Foreman

Our client is one of the UK’s leading geotechnical specialists with a reputation for quality and innovation within the field of stabilisation, foundations, drilling & grouting, soil nails and anchors, and all aspects of ground and geotechnical engineering. Our client focuses on all aspects of modern geotechnics, with a focus on more specialist techniques, disciplines, and contracts, all of which used to form a variety of applications including (but not limited to); foundations, deep basements, tunnels, station boxes, underground car parks, shafts, remediation of contaminated land, bored pile retaining walls and cut-off walls etc.

Overview

Our client has a strategy to grow significantly over the next three to five years, and thus have an exciting opportunity for several Drilling & Grouting Foremen to play a key role in realizing this strategy. Initially, you will oversee the delivery of a wide variety of multiple project and site works as part of the company’s HS2 frameworks across London. In time, you will work on multiple schemes simultaneously within various sectors, the responsibilities will be to safely mobilise, manage, oversee, and deliver all assigned drilling & grouting projects. This will be successfully achieved through effective management of multiple teams, operations, and rigs, with a clear focus upon maintaining net margins and a high level of staff satisfaction, whilst providing regular progress and general project reporting to the directors and senior management.

The Role

* To supervise, lead and deliver sites and contracts through effective operational management

* Delivery of project deadlines in a safe and timely manner, whilst always maintaining a high level of client satisfaction and team morale

* To direct works with a hands-on approach to the daily activities of contracts and projects

* To develop and implement plans for the success of all projects, ensuring that goals are either achieved or bettered with an emphasis upon service delivery, therefore effectively managing all operational activities

* To act as a focal point and leader for operations, steering and guiding contracts forward, ensuring total client commitment, coupled with increasing service levels and client focus

* Working with the commercial team to ensure effective resource and budget allocation and management

* Establish and lead regular review meetings with the staff to develop a proactive focus upon project safety, quality, personnel, labour, resources, rig and equipment management, scheduling, and programming

* To build and maintain a spirit of teamwork and cohesion between all levels of staff

* To establish and direct regular meetings with staff to discuss progress as well as providing the directors with reports, and liaise with other senior managers regarding operating policy and project deliverables

* Report to the directors regarding any potential project risks or problems that could impact upon the business

The Person

* Demonstrable experience in overseeing, managing or leading various project-based drilling & grouting techniques, or slope and ground stabilisation activities, with the ability to mobilize various complex rigs, equipment, teams, and crews

* Reading and understanding of site / project specifications and drawings

* A good understanding of adopting varied techniques pertaining to ground / site conditions

* A full awareness of project specifications and other contract documents

* An ability to produce reports that are easily digested based on gathering large amounts of technical information from multiple sites

* Highly organised and effective, with the ability to plan and schedule your own workload with the minimum of supervision

* To have run contracts and site operations with a diplomatic and pragmatic approach, coupled with a hands-on attitude to clients, sub-contractors, and people management

* To possess senior level leadership and management experience, therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious, lead from the front approach to delivery

* Possess an excellent understanding of the operations process, along with the ability to manage and develop sites both technically and commercially

* A motivator and manager of others who can evaluate problems or issues and offer appropriate solutions

* Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to relate to individuals at all levels in an organisation, and to establish and maintain respect both professionally and personally

* A strong and supportive character able to guide, evolve and steer sites and teams forward

* Should be robust and resilient, possessing drive, determination, and natural enthusiasm, as well as being a team player and leader

* Must have excellent time management skills, being able to effectively prioritise and delegate against deadlines
